APP Ideas & Designs

This little guy here to my left is the result of my initial idea/inclination to begin my journey into learning iOS Development/Computer Science.

The idea sparked while I was in Budapest as  book/guide and later morphed into an iOS application instead.

Click on the button below to add your name to my email list so that when my app is ready for testing, you will be the first to try it and submit feedback.

Trail Etiquette Guide App

This app idea came to me while on a trail run a few months ago.

I remember the first time I violated the “trail etiquette” rule of hiking off-trail and I will never forget it. This man yelled at me, my son then six years old, and my younger sister to “Stay on the designated trail!!!”  We were innocent and didn’t know any better.

I figured he could have approached us in a civil manner instead of the way he did.

This app would educate and inform all trail lovers whether cyclists, runners, hikers, equestrians, and people with disabilities (PositiveRide) alike.

I don’t want anyone yelling at anyone. Let us learn how to be out on the trails harmoniously. I think this app will do just that.

My iOS Development Projects

Here you can see the progression of  the iOS applications I have built to date. It was kinda cool going back nearly a year and seeing what I have created.

Though none of these are my own projects to share with you, they are what is preparing me to send out my first app to all of you.

I am currently working on an app idea I came up with a couple of months ago while I was on one of my trail runs. I want to pay it forward, you know?

The app will be 100% free. It is geared towards providing guidance while on a trail whether you are running, biking, or hiking. It is called: Trail Etiquette, for now.

Why I Love to Learn

A brain requires food for thought, for learning.

I find the more I learn, the more food my brain wants.

In today’s world, information abounds which makes sorting and sifting through it quite challenging. Especially with the amount of mis and dis information out there. This is one of the reasons why I continue to practice training my brain to think in a spherical manner.

My goal is to inspire humans of all walks of life, of ALL ages, to endeavor to learn something new no matter how daunting it may feel. I live by Not allowing my fears to get in the way of my learning new things no matter how crazy and unachievable they might seem, especially at the start.

Displaying my art here, yes, I consider app building and website building an art, took some doing on my part. To a degree even after nearly a half a year of learning iOS development and website building, I still feel like I don’t know what I am doing. This feeling, I have discovered, is normal and I am happy to know that.

Thank you again for stopping by my third website build to sign up for my future iOS app builds.

On an aside, I have not disregarded Android Apps: That is a completely different language/knowledgebase that I endeavor to tap into in the near future.

Cheers to Learning How to Code at Any Age!

My Goals

I have a few goals set but my primary goal is to learn how to create an iOS application from beginning to end. Since I began this course of study I have branched out from Swift/UIKit over to SwiftUI–boy, what a fun and challenging change to Swift 🙂  And of course my hunger and curiosity for more knowledge has lead me to play around with other languages: Python, HTML (CSS, JavaScript in combo with HTML) . In the beginning I though my brain would explode from all the information coming at it, but it didn’t! Yea!

As for website development, that is what I do on Saturday plus other topics of study I don’t get around to during the week. It helps break up my study week. 😲 I am learning how to build websites the “easy” way using a hosting site and the harder way, programmatically. So far, I have built three full websites and currently working on numbers four and five. This one here, where you are now, is my best one yet.

I change things up constantly to see what looks and feels best adding to my knowledge base all the while. Feel free to send me a message should you find errors, I would highly appreciate it.

I am stoked knowing that there is a community of other developers out there who are willing to help us newbies out. None of this learning would have been learning without the help and support I got from family and complete strangers from Discord to Twitter.  Without you all, my goals would take forever to accomplish if ever, so Thank you!
